Police have seized a number of items as evidence during a series of searches at several locations related to alleged corruption cases involving coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. Notably, police also seized family photographs as evidence. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the photographs were seized when police searched a house in the Sentul area of Bogor, West Java. “And the evidence includes two framed family photographs,” said Budi Hermanto at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (10/7/2026). However, Budi declined to specify whose family photographs they were. He said his party was also unable to display the photographic evidence in a press conference due to privacy reasons. “We have stated that the photographs will not be displayed because there are privacy matters we must safeguard. The photographs contain family images, and we must also protect the family and other parties,” he explained. Police have examined 15 witnesses in connection with the case. Budi confirmed that his party would announce suspects in the near future, although he did not explicitly state the intended release schedule. “Not tonight, but in the near future we will announce the suspects in the cases handled by the joint investigation between Kortastipidkor and Polda Metro Jaya,” said Budi. Polda Metro Jaya previously conducted searches at several locations on Wednesday (8/7) related to the three alleged corruption cases. Among them, police searched a money changer and Cafe de’Clan Signature in the Cipete area of South Jakarta, as well as a house in the Sentul area of Bogor. Police seized various items of evidence during the search process, ranging from gold bars to foreign currency worth billions of rupiah. The series of searches is linked to three major alleged corruption cases. The Head of Kortastipidkor Polri, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, stated that the investigations into these cases are being handled jointly through a joint investigation scheme with the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya. He said the cases relate to alleged corruption in coal procurement that triggered a blackout, the mega-corruption case at ASABRI, and the debt settlement case from PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise Krakatau Steel. Most recently, police searched a shop house in Cipete, South Jakarta. Investigators emerged one by one carrying various items of evidence, including a large suitcase, a yellow handbag, and a computer monitor. Budi reiterated that the handling of these three corruption cases is a follow-up to direct instructions from President Prabowo Subianto. The National Police is fully committed to supporting the government’s national priorities in strengthening the eradication of corruption. “We are here to convey the investigation process into alleged criminal acts of corruption, bribery, gratification, and or money laundering,” said Budi. He stated that the handling of the cases is in line with the seventh Asta Cita in the government’s agenda, namely strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reform, as well as strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption. “The eradication of corruption is a priority of the President of the Republic of Indonesia under the seventh Asta Cita priority programme, which is to strengthen political, legal, and bureaucratic reform, and to strengthen the prevention and eradication of corruption,” he said. Budi added that the National Police is part of the state apparatus obliged to carry out these national priorities. This major case is being handled directly through a joint investigation between Kortastipidkor Polri and the Polda Metro Jaya team.
