Police Seize Documents and Computers in 13th Raid of Corruption Case

A joint team of investigators from the National Police and the Metro Jaya Regional Police has seized a number of documents and computer devices from an empty shop-house in the Cipete area of South Jakarta, marking the 13th location searched in an ongoing corruption investigation. “Many documents have been secured by investigators, including computers and other items. We have not yet been able to identify or inventory everything that has been secured,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Friday. Budi explained that to secure the evidence, officers arriving at the shop-house on Jalan Asem 2, South Cipete, were forced to cut the door chain to sweep the three-storey building. “Investigators ensured the forced entry proceeded smoothly and was purely for investigative purposes, given that the three-storey shop-house was found to be unoccupied,” he said. Despite the building being empty, Budi stressed that the search was conducted transparently and in accordance with applicable legal procedures. Officers also brought in a local neighbourhood official to witness the search. “A witness from the local community is present to observe that the search was carried out with a search warrant and a court order,” he said. This shop-house is the 13th location searched under the joint investigation by the Corruption Eradication Corps and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. The location was identified through witness statements, case reviews, and leads from the 12 previous searches. Police have indicated that further search locations may be added as the legal process continues and have committed to providing public updates to maintain transparency in the investigation. The joint team is investigating alleged corruption and money laundering involving state-owned enterprises PT PLN (Persero), PT Asabri (Persero), and PT Krakatau Steel.
