Police have seized a number of items as evidence in the case of alleged intimidation carried out by three members of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regional House of Representatives against Doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Doctor Icha, which led the young doctor to take her own life. The Deputy Director of Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking Prevention at the East Nusa Tenggara Police, AKBP Samuel Simbolon, stated that the TTU Police had taken the initial step of seizing CCTV evidence from the emergency unit of Leona Hospital in Kefamenanu. He explained that the evidence would be analysed in coordination with the police forensic laboratory. Samuel confirmed that Doctor Icha’s family had filed a formal report with the East Nusa Tenggara Police, and a joint investigation team comprising three directorates and the TTU Police had been established on the orders of the East Nusa Tenggara Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko. The alleged intimidation occurred on 13 June when Doctor Icha was treating a patient at the Leona Hospital emergency unit. The three TTU councillors suspected of involvement are Therezius Lazakar, Robert Tubani, and Veronika Lake. The patient, who was reportedly related to one of the councillors, survived the treatment. Doctor Icha was found dead at her home in Baumata, Kupang Regency, on 26 June, and was buried on 29 June, with thousands of mourners attending her funeral.
