A joint team from the Presisi Patrol Unit of East Jakarta Metropolitan Police District and Brimob personnel seized weapons and dangerous items, including bows and firecrackers, while dispersing a brawl on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai in Klender, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

“A total of three firecrackers, five bows, and one slingshot projectile were seized as evidence suspected to be used in the brawl,” said East Jakarta Police Chief Alfian Nurrizal on Monday in Jakarta.

The brawl was dispersed after police received a report from residents about a clash in the area at around 7:10 AM. In response, the Presisi Patrol Unit C and D teams, along with Brimob personnel, were deployed to the scene to secure the area and disperse the involved groups.

Upon arrival, officers found the situation still tense. Police swiftly dispersed the conflicting groups and conducted a sweep around the area.

“During the on-site inspection, officers discovered several items suspected to have been prepared for the brawl,” Alfian said. “The items were secured for further investigation,” he added.

After the situation was brought under control, police continued patrols and security at the Bonsi Integrated Post to ensure no other groups launched further attacks or triggered additional clashes.

Alfian stated that the joint patrols are part of police efforts to maintain security in East Jakarta against brawl threats, street crimes, and other public order disturbances. He also praised the public for promptly reporting the incident, enabling officers to respond before the situation escalated.

“Thanks to the swift police response, the brawl was successfully dispersed and the situation was safely controlled,” Alfian concluded. He urged the public not to hesitate to report any signs of brawls or suspicious activities in their vicinity. He assured that all public reports would be promptly addressed to maintain area security and order.

Furthermore, Alfian reminded the public, especially parents, to increase supervision of children and teenagers to prevent their involvement in brawls that could endanger themselves and others.

“It’s extremely disruptive, especially on a Monday when people are starting their day. This morning, traffic was completely gridlocked due to the brawl,” said motorist Alwan (32) at the scene in East Jakarta on Monday.

The attack began early morning, causing total traffic paralysis from Bekasi to Cipinang. The clash between residents of Kebon Singkong, Klender, and Cipinang Jagal, Pulogadung, forced motorcyclists and drivers to stop and wait for the situation to calm before proceeding. Both groups were seen attacking each other with sharp weapons, thrown stones, and firecrackers. The tense situation led road users to pull over to avoid being hit.
