Police Seize 57,000 Illegal Chinese iPhones Worth Rp 225 Billion

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The case of illegal mobile phone imports from China has implicated PT TSL following a search conducted by the Satgas Gakkum Lidik of Bareskrim Polri.

Authorities also searched five warehouses in Jakarta suspected of being connected to illegal import activities.

The warehouses related to illegal mobile phone imports are located at various points, including in North Jakarta and West Jakarta. From the searches, Bareskrim seized mobile phones of various brands. iPhones emerged as the most numerous illegally imported items, with up to 56,000 units valued at a total of Rp 225 billion.

“(Seized) 56,557 iPhone pieces (total value Rp 225,208,000,000), 1,625 Android pieces (total value Rp 5,387,500,000), and 18,574 mobile phone spare parts (batteries, chargers, cables, etc.). Total 76,756 pieces with a total value of Rp 235,089,800,000,” stated Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, in a statement quoted on Tuesday (22/4/2026).

From witness examinations and document reviews of goods shipments, investigators have named two suspects. “(Suspects initialled) DCP and SJ,” Ade said.

He further explained that the two suspects have different roles. DCP acted as the importer bringing goods into Indonesia in non-new condition and without SNI certification, while SJ acted as the customer importing goods into Indonesia in non-new condition.

Bareskrim then pursued further development of the case. Today, Bareskrim searched PT TSL located in Sidoarjo.

“Today, the Tipideksus Investigators Team of Bareskrim Polri conducted a search of PT TSL’s office, where investigators believe PT TSL is a holding company using several shell companies to handle documentation for illegal mobile phone imports,” he revealed.
