Mataram (ANTARA) - Police in Mataram have seized 50.45 grammes of crystal methamphetamine and arrested a man and a woman suspected of involvement in drug trafficking on Sunday morning.

‘Investigators are now developing the case to uncover the supplier network,’ said Head of the Mataram Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Remanto, on Sunday.

He said the case came to light following a public report about a suspected narcotics transaction in a boarding house room in the Jeruk Manis area, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara.

‘Based on this public information, our team conducted an investigation and eventually secured the two suspects inside the boarding house room along with evidence related to the abuse and distribution of methamphetamine-type narcotics,’ he said.

The two suspects have the initials IS (36), a resident of Perampuan, West Lombok Regency, and DN (25), a resident of Subang, West Java.

Remanto stated that police seized 50.45 grammes of methamphetamine, a smoking device, cash suspected to be proceeds from transactions, several mobile phones, and other evidence. According to him, some of the methamphetamine was found in the boarding house room where the two suspects were arrested. Following further investigation at IS’s house in Perampuan, officers discovered additional methamphetamine, bringing the total seized evidence to 50.45 grammes.

Both suspects and all the evidence have been secured at the Mataram Police Station for further examination. ‘We are still investigating the possible involvement of other parties in their narcotics distribution network,’ Remanto said.

Investigators suspect the pair violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, in conjunction with Article 609 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
