Police seize 5 tons of coffee
DILI, East Timor: A farmer has lodged a complaint with governor Abilio Jose Osorio Soares over the seizure of five tons of coffee by police.
Fernando De Oliveira told the governor that his coffee was seized in Tibar village, about 12 kilometers west of Dili, on Monday.
On a separate occasion, police said yesterday they confiscated the farmers' goods because they were suspicious that Fernando would export it without proper documents.
Fernando told The Jakarta Post that the governor immediately checked on his report with local police chief Lt. Col. Andreas Sugianto.
"The governor promised the case would be settled, but he wouldn't tell me how," he said. (yac)
