Police seize 5 kgs of 'shabu-shabu' in raids
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Police detectives have seized over 5 kilograms of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) worth Rp 1.2 billion (US$126,000) and 12,000 ecstasy pills from six suspects in four separate raids conducted between Wednesday and Saturday.
Chief of detectives High Comr. Harry Montolalu identified the suspects as Frederikus Doppo Ru alias Edy, 37; Ricky Santoso, 45; Edi Citra, 38; Teddy alias Asiong, 48; Yauw Chika April Haryanto alias Saikam alias Mami, 50; and Yohannes Andrian, 45.
"We'll keep on developing these drug links. The war against drugs does not rest with these arrests," Harry told reporters at city police headquarters on Saturday.
Harry said that drug squad detectives made their first arrest on Wednesday on Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya in South Jakarta, apprehending Frederikus for possessing 100 grams of shabu shabu.
On Thursday, after receiving information from the public, detectives arrested Ricky Santoso with 50 grams of shabu-shabu, on Jl. Mangga Besar Raya in Central Jakarta.
Detectives made a big catch on Friday with the arrest of Tedy and friends at Rajawali apartments in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, at the same time confiscating 2.5 kilograms of shabu-shabu from the suspects.
The police capped the series of raids on a high note on Saturday, with the finding of 2.5 kilograms of shabu-shabu and 12,000 ecstasy pills at the Mitra Bahari Apartments in North Jakarta. They arrested Edi Citra and named him the suspect in the case. (ylt)
