Police seize 200 kgs of marijuana
MEDAN, North Sumatra: Medan City Police arrested an alleged drug
trafficker, identified only as Wanna, 42, and seized 200
kilograms of marijuana from the suspect, a report said.
Medan City Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Maruli
Siahaan said the police managed to arrest Wanna and seize the
marijuana on Tuesday following a tipoff from the suspect's son,
identified by his initials IRH, a second-year student at the
state elementary school SDN 2 on Jl. Denai in Medan.
"Officers from the Percut Sei Tuan police station initially
received information that IRH had taken a package of material,
which smelt like marijuana, to school. The material later proved
to be marijuana," Siahaan said.
"When questioned about the origin of the 'material', IRH said
that his father had kept many packages of it at his home on Jl.
Tuba I, Tegalsari subdistrict."
The officers then moved to Wanna's residence, where they
caught him in the act putting the marijuana into plastic
packages, the officer added. --JP
