Police seize 11.5 kg marijuana

JAMBI, Jambi: Police, with the help of sniffer dogs, intercepted three large consignments of marijuana on its way from Medan to Jakarta last week, Antara reported.

The three separate consignments of dried marijuana leaves, weighing 11.5 kg, were seized from passengers on intercity buses that were stopped on the trans-Sumatra highway, Lt. Col. Dadang Djuhendi, the chief of the Bungo Tebo police, said.

Dadang said his office regularly conducts on-the-spot checks on passing buses to stop the marijuana trafficking in the area.

Thursday's haul, he added, was the largest in a single day. It brings the total marijuana seized in the last three months to 19.25 kg. (emb)
