Police seize 107 grams of marijuana

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The East Nusa Tenggara Police have
arrested five drug traffickers, including three Maluku residents,
and seized 28 packages of dried marijuana, weighing a total of
107.87 grams, an officer said on Wednesday.

East Nusa Tenggara Police spokesman Adj. Comr. I Wajan Dana
said the five were arrested in the provincial capital of Kupang
on Tuesday.

"They have been identified as Kustianus Ns Natalis and Victor
Nailiu Jeto, both of Kupang; and Kiki Siranamal, Robert
Latuperisa and Peter Hamutuban, all Maluku residents. The five
are being held as suspects at the East Nusa Tenggara Police's
detention center," Wajan Dana said.

The spokesman said the police arrested the five suspects after
weeks of surveillance and investigation.

East Nusa Tenggara Police chief Brig. Gen. Jacki Uly said
earlier that drug trafficking was rampant in the province due to
poor surveillance, particularly of suspicious individuals passing
through the province's entry points.

"Therefore, we have asked the National Police Headquarters for
drug-sniffing dogs," Jacki said on Tuesday.--JP
