Police seek PT DI executive

BANDUNG: A special team has been deployed by Bandung Police to hunt down PT Dirgantara Indonesia president director Edwin Sudarmo who was sentenced to two months in prison for violating a manpower law on dismissing workers.

Chief of Bandung Police, Sr. Comr. Edmon Ilyas said on Wednesday that the police were assisting the prosecutor's office in arresting Edwin whose whereabouts was unknown following the verdict in January this year.

Edwin was found guilty under Law No. 22/1957 on solving workers' disputes for not paying severance pay as regulated by the manpower ministry. However, the execution of the verdict was issued by the prosecutor's office only after the Supreme Court rejected Edwin's appeal in mid July.

"We received a letter from the prosecutor's office requesting backup. So we seeking information on his whereabouts," Edmon said.

He said Edwin has not been spotted in the vicinity of his house in Gegerkalong Permai housing complex and phone calls or text messages to the convict were not responded to. -- JP
