Police Seek New Suspects in Little Aresha Daycare Case Before Handover to Prosecutors
Yogyakarta — Police investigators are speeding up the investigation into alleged child abuse at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta. To date, 126 witnesses have been interviewed, and police are considering adding new suspects in the case.
Yogyakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol Eva Guna Pandia told reporters on Monday (18 May 2026): “From the PPA and Reskrim units, work continues, particularly interviewing victims’ parents’ witnesses, which now totals around 126.”
“There is a possibility of adding new suspects, but we are currently focusing on this,” he said.
Pandia stated that one more class remains to be investigated. Regarding the case file preparation, they aim to complete it soon to transfer it to the prosecutor’s office in the near future.
“We have 40 days remaining, hopefully we can transfer it before then,” Pandia said.
Meanwhile, Inspector Apri Sawitri, PPA Unit Chief of Yogyakarta Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, said interviews have been conducted with six classes under Little Aresha. The interviews cover baby, playgroup, education, and preschool classes.
“The kindergarten class has yet to be interviewed. Six classes have been checked so far,” Apri said.
Apri noted that the kindergarten is located north of the sealed daycare and remains under the Little Aresha Foundation. Police are awaiting the victims’ medical reports to confirm whether abuse occurred in the kindergarten class.
“All medical reports are still pending. If the police make a statement, there must be evidence,” he said.
