Police Seek Clarification from Parents of Children Used by YouTuber Bigmo to Promote Vapes

Police have begun investigating a public complaint against YouTuber Muhammad Jannah, known as Bigmo, for allegedly involving minors in promoting vape liquid during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel. Officers have already inspected the location of the incident. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the complainant has been examined. On 3 August, police also took statements from the parents and the four children who appeared in the video, with the children accompanied by their parents. ‘Investigators have taken statements from the reporting party and are examining the digital materials and documents obtained,’ Budi told reporters on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Polda Metro assured that every public report will be followed up in accordance with applicable regulations, with investigators prioritising the protection of identities and the best interests of the children. The case originated when Bigmo conducted a live stream on his YouTube channel. In a clip circulating online, Bigmo is seen visiting a vape liquid seller and engaging several young children at the location. He then brought the children into the camera frame to promote a specific brand of vape liquid. Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, highlighted the involvement of minors in the vape product promotion. As a result of the case, Sahroni urged that Bigmo’s YouTube account be blocked. Sahroni initially criticised the streamer’s actions and called on law enforcement to act firmly, stating that involving minors in vape promotion is a serious violation. ‘Bigmo promoting vapes to young children is no longer a game or a joke because this is clearly a violation of the law. Advertising nicotine on social media alone is prohibited, let alone to young children. So many aspects have been violated. And this individual has had many previous cases. What happened before could be forgiven and let go, but this current one can no longer be ignored because it clearly breaks the law,’ Sahroni told reporters on Monday (3/8). Furthermore, Sahroni requested that the police and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs block Bigmo’s YouTube account, arguing that the streamer’s actions have gone too far and are dangerous for children. ‘I also ask the Ministry and the police to request that YouTube Indonesia block Bigmo’s YouTube account. Because too many rules have been violated. And he is being provocative, so someone has reported him. We ask the police and related agencies to act quickly. The punishment must be carried out according to the applicable legal procedures,’ Sahroni stated.
