Police Secure Youths in Convoy in West Jakarta, Flags and Firecrackers Seized

Police secured several youths conducting a motorcycle convoy whilst setting off firecrackers in the West Jakarta area. Flags and firecrackers were confiscated.

“(The team) successfully prevented a vehicle convoy and secured several items in the form of flags and firecrackers,” said Head of Operations of West Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Tri Bayu Nugroho in his statement on Sunday (15 March 2026).

The convoy activity occurred as police conducted strong point operations on Saturday (14 March). Several locations that became enforcement points included the Cengkareng traffic light area and the Kebon Jeruk Relasi traffic light intersection in West Jakarta.

Nugroho explained that the youths were secured when officers were carrying out security activities at several security posts of Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026.

“Our personnel who were on duty at Cengkareng Traffic Light Security Post and Kebon Jeruk Relasi Traffic Light Security Post encountered a youth convoy on motorcycles. From these activities we also secured several firecrackers and flag items,” he said.

Nugroho stated that the strong point operation was part of the police’s preventive efforts to prevent potential threats to public security and order. Specifically during Ramadan and the implementation of Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026.

“To the youths and students, please do not conduct vehicle convoys or set off firecrackers on roads. Because it can endanger the safety of other road users and disrupt public order,” he explained.

With police presence at several strategic locations, it is hoped that the security and order situation in West Jakarta will remain safe and conducive. “So that the public can carry out activities, especially during Ramadan, with comfort,” he concluded.
