Police Seal Daycare in Yogyakarta Following Raid Over Child Abuse Allegations
Police raided a childcare facility (daycare) in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, over suspicions of abuse against the children entrusted there. Police have set up a police line at the location and are currently examining those involved.
The news was shared via the Instagram account @merapi_uncover. In its post, it stated that the daycare location suspected of abuse has been cordoned off with a police line.
“The daycare location has reportedly been secured with a police line for further investigation purposes. This is corroborated by recent Google Maps reviews mentioning a raid by the Yogyakarta Police Resort team. However, some netizens have criticised the management’s attempts to cover digital tracks by deleting negative reviews or closing their social media accounts amid the ongoing legal process,” the account wrote, as seen by detikJogja on Saturday (25/4/2026).
When contacted for confirmation, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Yogyakarta Police Resort, Kompol Riski Adrian, verified the raid.
“True, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Yogyakarta Police Resort conducted a raid on a childcare facility in the Umbulharjo area yesterday (Friday) afternoon,” Adrian said when reached by reporters on Saturday (25/4/2026).
Adrian stated that they suspect certain daycare managers of committing acts of abuse against the entrusted children. The case is currently under investigation.
“It is strongly suspected of committing a criminal act of treating a child discriminatorily or placing, allowing, involving, or ordering the involvement of a child in improper treatment situations, neglect, or violence against the child,” he concluded.
Previously reported, news of the police raid on the childcare facility (daycare) in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, went viral on social media. The incident emerged after allegations of abuse against the entrusted children.

According to parental testimonies, the post continued, the children allegedly received inappropriate treatment from the daycare staff.
“Based on posts from the social media platform Threads, parents were devastated after reading Google Maps reviews that revealed the dark side of the place. Circulating reports mention cruel acts against the children, from being tied up, dragged, to being beaten,” the post stated.
