Police Say No Premeditation in Case of Padel Employee False Imprisonment

South Jakarta Metro Police have confirmed there was no premeditation in the case of the confinement and assault of a new employee, identified by the initials AL, at a padel court in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta. The head of the Mobile Investigation Unit, First Inspector Satrio, stated that the four suspects involved initially only intended to question the victim, who was suspected of stealing ten padel rackets, by detaining him in a warehouse and a goods lift. “Oh no, it was not planned at first. They just wanted to interrogate him. Then, because the process was perhaps a bit convoluted, they ended up detaining him for too long,” First Inspector Satrio said during a crime scene investigation on Monday. Satrio explained that according to the padel court management, the victim did not provide clear answers regarding the alleged theft, causing the interrogation to take a considerable amount of time. The confinement ultimately lasted for three days, starting Monday (22/6), until the victim was finally released and immediately reported the incident to the police. Police subsequently arrested the four suspects on Wednesday (24/6). The suspects admitted they did not receive any orders from their superiors to carry out the confinement. The four suspects, who are also employees of the padel court, were arrested because they were responsible for interrogating the victim suspected of stealing the rackets. “We have not found any orders from superiors. It was just the four employees,” he said. The South Jakarta Police conducted the crime scene investigation at the location of the assault and confinement on Monday afternoon. The Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) team deployed around five personnel and one unit vehicle to the scene. The police arrested the four perpetrators, identified by the initials ASB, RRK, AH, and DW. The case began with a police report filed by a woman identified as M, who stated that her child, AL, had not returned home for two days. After two days, the child finally communicated and asked to be picked up. M stated that her child had only been working for two months and was suspected of stealing padel rackets on Sunday (21/6). However, the child was instead assaulted and confined by several other employees. Following the report, the police conducted a series of investigations and successfully apprehended the four individuals as suspects.
