Police: Richard Lee Fails to Honour the Law, Chooses a TikTok Live Over Responding to a Summons

Metro Jaya Police regret the attitude of Dr Richard Lee (DRL), who is deemed not to have shown compliance with the legal process. Rather than attending additional examinations as a suspect, Richard Lee carried out a live TikTok broadcast on his personal account for product promotion.

Based on the statement given by DRL, he admitted to conducting a live TikTok on his own account. The purpose was to promote products CV Athena as part of his work, according to Kombes Budi Hermanto, the Public Relations Head of Polda Metro Jaya.

He emphasised that work or product promotion should not absolve him of his obligation to respect the ongoing legal process. His absence without official notice at the additional examination schedule was considered a form of defiance of the investigation procedures. In short, he does not reflect a citizen who obeys and respects the law.

The case originated from a report by a consumer with initials Dr Amira Farahnaz alias Dr Samira alias dokter detektif who purchased a number of beauty products belonging to Richard Lee through several marketplaces between October and November 2024. The products purchased included White Tomato, DNA Salmon, and Miss V Stem Cell by Athena Group, priced from hundreds of thousands to more than Rp1 million.

After receipt, the products were alleged to be problematic, ranging from contents not matching the label, non-sterile conditions, to packaging that was suspected to be the result of repacking. Based on investigation and a case assessment, Polda Metro Jaya named Richard Lee as a suspect in a suspected violation of consumer protection on 15 December 2025. (H-3)

The detention period lasted 20 days, from 10 February to 1 March 2026.

Investigation by the Ditreskrimsus of Polda Metro Jaya has scheduled further examinations with Richard Lee to obtain additional statements.
