JAKARTA — Police are reviewing 2,610 CCTV video recordings to track the movement of the suspected perpetrators of an acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

Kombes Pol Iman Imanudin, Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional Police, said the thousands of videos have a total duration of 10,320 minutes from 86 points scattered around the crime scene and the suspected perpetrator’s escape route.

“There are 2,610 images in video format with a duration of 10,320 minutes, so we need several days to analyse the digital CCTV cameras that the suspected perpetrators passed through,” Iman explained at a press conference on Monday, 16 March 2026.

The suspects are believed to have been tracking the victim’s movements before carrying out their attack. They began following Andrie when he departed from his office, YLBHI (Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation).

“From several points, the suspected perpetrators are believed to have been tracking the victim’s movements, which was detected from surveillance cameras along the route from South Jakarta to the initial gathering point at Merdeka Timur in front of Gambir Station,” Iman explained.

After carrying out their attack, the four suspected perpetrators then headed in different directions. These included areas such as Kalibata, Ragunan, and Bogor.

Previously, it was reported that KontraS Vice Coordinator Andrie Yunus was attacked with acid by unknown persons (OTK) on Thursday evening. The incident occurred at 23:37 WIB as Andrie Yunus was riding his motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.

At the location, two suspects riding a motorcycle, suspected to be a Honda Beat model from 2016 to 2021, approached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang (Talang Bridge). The second perpetrator, sitting at the back, was wearing a face covering or mask resembling a black buff that covered half the face, dark blue t-shirt, and long blue trousers folded short and suspected to be made of denim.

One of the perpetrators then sprayed acid towards the victim, which struck parts of the victim’s body. Andrie suffered burns to both hands, face, chest, and eyes.
