Police Reveal Trigger for Quarrel Leading to Mutilation of Man in Depok
Police have revealed the trigger for a quarrel that led Saepul (26) to kill and mutilate a man identified as K (51) at a rented house in the Cipayung area of Depok City. Police stated that Saepul was upset because the victim rejected his sexual advances.
“The quarrel initially started because, from the results of our investigation, the perpetrator had an intrigue as a same-sex admirer (LGBTQ),” said Katimsus 2 Unit 1 of the Resmob Sub-Directorate at Polda Metro Jaya, Ipda Breggy Yesaya Imanuel Sutijono, in a statement on Sunday.
Breggy said Saepul intended to have sexual relations with the victim. However, the victim refused and slapped Saepul’s cheek. “From there, the perpetrator tried to engage in relations with the victim. The victim did not accept this and slapped the perpetrator,” he said.
A quarrel then ensued between the perpetrator and the victim. Saepul subsequently grabbed a knife to stab the victim. “From there, a quarrel started, eventually leading to the perpetrator taking a knife to stab the victim,” he stated.
The murder occurred at Saepul’s rented house in Cipayung, Depok, on the afternoon of 23 July 2026. After the killing, Saepul left the victim in a critical condition before mutilating the body. After realising the victim was unconscious, Saepul waited until the victim died. He then mutilated the body around 4 p.m. local time.
“There was a gap of 3.5 hours before the perpetrator disposed of the first body part at 6.30 p.m., followed by the leg parts at 7 p.m.,” Breggy added.
Ipda Breggy said Saepul had targeted the victim through social media. Saepul’s intention to rob the victim arose after he saw the victim posing with a black Honda PCX motorcycle. “For the motive, based on the results of the investigation, after getting acquainted with the victim, the perpetrator saw one of the victim’s photos using a Honda PCX motorcycle,” he added.
