Jakarta — The Metro Jaya Regional Police have disclosed the chronology of a murder in Depok, West Java, that occurred on Saturday, 7 March, with the victim’s body discovered in a desiccated condition.

AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, Deputy Head of the Mobile Detective Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department at Metro Jaya Regional Police, explained that the incident began on 31 December 2024, when the suspect, identified as ARH (44), entered into an unregistered marriage with the victim, identified as DH (55), and they resided in the Primavera residential complex, Kelapanunggal, until April 2025.

“Subsequently, in mid-October 2025, the victim and the suspect had a quarrel, during which the victim screamed and ordered the suspect to leave,” Resa explained.

At that point, the suspect immediately covered the victim’s mouth with his right hand, but the victim resisted by scratching the suspect.

The suspect then strangled the victim using his left hand until the victim became weak and helpless.

“The suspect then took a rope and tied it around the victim’s neck. Subsequently, the suspect waited for approximately one hour whilst observing the victim’s condition,” Resa disclosed.

“The suspect then took the victim’s mobile phone and left the crime scene with the victim’s motorcycle,” Resa added.

The suspect was apprehended at approximately 15:30 WIB on Cipete Raya Street, number 9, RT 4 RW 10, Jatimulya subdistrict, South Tambun district, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Regional Police, stated that the suspected perpetrator, identified as ARH (44), was the victim’s unregistered husband.

“The preliminary motive for the murder is believed to be rooted in economic difficulties,” Budi stated on Monday, 9 March.

He noted that the suspect was unemployed and felt aggrieved after being evicted from the home by the victim, which prompted him to commit the act of murder.
