Police Reveal Three Suspects in Central Jakarta Confinement Case Are Family Members

The Central Jakarta Metro Police have revealed that three of the seven suspects in the confinement case at the ‘Mau Print’ shop are family members. The suspects, identified by their initials MML, AYL, and CML, were presented during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Friday. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, confirmed that MML is the owner of the printing business where the incident occurred. Commissioner Hutagalung stressed that the familial relationships between the suspects will not affect the investigation. ‘We are not being selective. Our investigation remains focused on the material facts and the role of each individual in the criminal act,’ he stated. The police are also investigating whether the kinship ties were a factor that led the other suspects to participate in or be coerced into the confinement. The case involves the confinement and alleged abuse of employees, with the business owner claiming the victims had stolen printing plates worth Rp230 million. The investigation is ongoing, with police having examined 17 witnesses and detained seven suspects. The case has also drawn the attention of the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency, which is coordinating with the police regarding worker rights violations. A special adviser to the president has also reported the case to President Prabowo Subianto.
