Police Reveal Routes of Suspected Perpetrators Before and After Acid Attack on KontraS Activist
Police have revealed the route taken by suspected perpetrators in the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of KontraS. Police stated that the route was determined through CCTV footage examination at multiple points.
“The suspected perpetrators are believed to have followed the victim’s movements prior to the incident. The perpetrators’ movements were detected through several surveillance camera points with the route beginning from their movement in south Jakarta towards an initial gathering point on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, near Gambir Station,” said Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Iman Imanuddin during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Monday (16 March 2026).
Iman stated that the perpetrators then traversed Jalan Ir H Juanda in central Jakarta. Following this, the perpetrators proceeded towards Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat.
“From Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat they subsequently headed towards the Tugu Tani area. So following the pattern, they circled the Monas area heading towards the Tugu Tani region,” said Iman.
From the Tugu Tani area, the suspected perpetrators briefly visited a petrol station located in Cikini, central Jakarta. Iman stated that the suspected perpetrators then proceeded towards the YLBHI office on Jalan Diponegoro, central Jakarta.
“From YLBHI, the perpetrators began following the victim after the victim finished the event at YLBHI,” he said.
He stated that Andrie refuelled at the petrol station on Jalan Cikini Raya. At approximately 23:35 WIB, the suspected perpetrators were present at the petrol station.
“Allegedly four suspected perpetrators using motorcycles were waiting for the victim in front of KFC Cikini. They then followed the victim who moved onto Jalan Diponegoro and subsequently towards Jalan Salemba I. When the incident occurred at 23:37 WIB on Thursday, 12 March 2026, on Jalan Salemba I at the intersection with Jalan Talang in central Jakarta, that is where the crime scene was located,” said Iman.
After the incident, two motorcycles with perpetrators fled in different directions. One motorcycle carrying suspects 1 and 2 travelled against traffic on Jalan Salemba Raya towards Senen, then to Jalan Kramat Raya, Tugu Tani, then towards Gondangdia Station and subsequently towards south Jakarta.
Meanwhile, one vehicle carrying suspects 3 and 4 continued straight onto Jalan Pramuka Sari II towards Matraman, then continued to Jatinegara, then to Jalan Otto Iskandardinata in east Jakarta.
Iman stated that his unit conducted digital processing of communication devices. He mentioned that one of the perpetrators allegedly changed clothing and then dispersed towards Kalibata, Ragunan, and Bogor.
