Police reveal roles of seven suspects in Central Jakarta employee confinement case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The police have revealed the detailed roles of seven suspects in the case of confinement and assault against three victims at a printing business called ‘Mau Print’ located in Central Jakarta.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, explained that the case came to light when the criminal investigation and Pamapta duty officers visited the crime scene and found the three victims along with two individuals who were later named as part of the seven suspects.

“Based on the examination results, the mastermind behind this hostage-taking is MML, who is the owner of the printing business. Suspect MML is known to be the originator of the idea to shackle, hold hostage, and chain the feet of the three victims,” he said.

MML was subsequently detained as the owner of Mau Print and the person who conceived the idea of shackling or holding the victims hostage by chaining their feet.

In addition to MML, Roby disclosed the roles of the six other suspects who assisted in the confinement:

First, suspect AI alias Alex played a role in assaulting two of the victims and contacting the victims’ families to demand a ransom of Rp50 million per person on MML’s orders.

The second suspect, identified as S, played a role in chaining the victims’ feet and also contacted the victims’ families to demand compensation of Rp50 million each on MML’s orders.

“Next, suspect AYL played a role in intimidation by threatening to break the three victims’ legs inside the confinement room if the ransom was not paid,” said Roby.

Furthermore, suspect NHJ played a role in assembling or making the shackling device used to confine the victims on the owner’s orders.

“The fifth suspect, CML, acted as a maintenance supervisor tasked with overseeing the confinement, including prohibiting the office boy from approaching the room or giving food to the victims,” Roby stated.

Then, the sixth suspect, I, acted as an admin and was tasked with receiving a ransom transfer of Rp50 million from the family of one of the victims named Adit.

Roby added that all seven suspects along with the evidence have been secured by the police for legal proceedings and further investigation.
