Police Reveal Role of Three Debt Collectors in Lawyer Stabbing in Tangerang Selatan
JAKARTA – The Metro Jaya Regional Police have revealed the roles of three debt collectors (collection agents) in the stabbing of an advocate in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Selatan, on Tuesday (24 February 2026). One perpetrator has been arrested, whilst two others remain on the wanted persons list.
Kombes Budi Hermanto, head of public relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, stated that the perpetrator identified as JBI served as the executor or primary attacker who stabbed the victim, causing injury.
JBI was apprehended near dawn whilst attempting to flee via the Kalikakung Toll Road in Semarang, Central Java.
“Wanted suspect HK was tasked with tracking the address via GPS Maps and documentation,” said Budi.
Meanwhile, SS was responsible for carrying the power of attorney document to convince the victim during the vehicle repossession process.
“Wanted suspect SS was tasked with holding the power of attorney and intimidating the victim by staring menacingly at the victim whilst attempting to repossess the car at the house terrace and following the victim alongside JBI as the victim headed towards their vehicle,” explained Budi.
Police are continuing to pursue both remaining suspects.
“There was a dispute because the victim believed the repossession process did not comply with regulations,” said the victim’s legal representative, Andri Jurnisal, when met at Tangerang Selatan Police Station on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
During the dispute, the victim’s car was temporarily taken by the debt collectors. However, as the victim did not yet know their identities, they requested the residential security officer to detain the perpetrators’ vehicle at the gate.
“The victim asked security to stop the debt collector’s car so they could be asked for identification,” said Andri.
The victim then proceeded to the residential gate. At that location, the situation became heated until one of the debt collectors allegedly brandished a sharp weapon and attacked the victim.
Following the incident, all three perpetrators fled. The case was subsequently reported to Kelapa Dua Police Station on Monday evening at approximately 20:30 WIB.
