Jakarta Metropolitan Police have revealed the reason for requesting Bank Mandiri to block the account belonging to Supriyono, also known as Botok, coordinator of the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB).

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, explained that the blocking was carried out based on information from social media. Iman did not specify what information was referred to.

However, he said the step was taken to protect the account holder and donors.

“We did this, of course, in order to maintain and provide protection both to the account owner and to the donors,” Iman said at a press conference with House of Representatives Commission III at the parliamentary complex on Wednesday (26/8).

According to him, the collection of donations is essentially regulated by law, which provides guarantees of protection for both donors and recipients.

However, after carrying out clarification, Iman said his party had submitted a request for restoration quickly, in less than the five working day period.

“Therefore, subsequently the suspension of the account can be lifted and it returns to the authority of Bank Mandiri,” he said.

Iman assured that the personal data of donors and Botok Pati in the case remained protected and was not used by irresponsible parties.

“We emphasise that after we confirmed with various parties related to the legal incident, today we convey that the transaction suspension can now be reopened,” he said.
