Police reveal motorist assault suspect tested positive for methamphetamine

The police have revealed that the perpetrator of an assault, identified by the initials FRS (37), who punched a motorist with the initials AA at Al Bainah Field on Jalan Moch Kahfi II, Cipedak, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, tested positive for using methamphetamine.

“We have conducted a urine test, and he tested positive for drug use. He tested positive for methamphetamine,” said Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi to reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Monday.

Nurma stated that the perpetrator was confirmed positive for drugs after undergoing a urine test. The police are currently developing the case, including determining the origin of the narcotics.

It was said that the perpetrator carried out his actions based on a whisper, and his motive was simply a desire to hit someone. “The motive was that he just wanted to hit someone. Yes, he said there was a whisper telling him to hit someone on the road,” she said.

For his actions, the perpetrator, who has been detained, faces charges under Article 466, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning assault. Furthermore, the police are also investigating a traffic violation by the perpetrator, namely a ticket for not wearing a helmet while driving.

“Yes, that’s right. We have coordinated with the Jagakarsa Traffic Unit to issue a ticket. It is clear he was not wearing a helmet, right? We also need to clarify the vehicle’s documents and the vehicle he was using,” she said.

For his actions, the perpetrator could also be charged under Article 352 of the Criminal Code, which regulates minor assault. This provision stipulates a maximum prison sentence of three months or a maximum fine of Rp4,500.

As previously known, the police arrested the perpetrator FRS (37) for punching motorist AA at Al Bainah Field on Jalan Moch Kahfi II, Cipedak, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Sunday (5/7) evening at around 9:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

The incident began on Saturday (4/7) afternoon at 11:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, when an assault was committed against the victim by an unknown man. The perpetrator was known to be riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, wearing a greyish-blue t-shirt and cream-coloured shorts.

The perpetrator then carried out his attack by punching the victim with his bare, clenched fist several times, striking the left side of the jaw, causing the victim to suffer swelling, bruising, and pain on the left side of his jaw.

Afterwards, the victim confronted the perpetrator. However, instead of apologising, the perpetrator punched the victim again. The victim subsequently filed a police report, which was promptly followed up with an arrest. During the arrest, the perpetrator was using a green Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, which is suspected to be the same vehicle used during the assault. After being secured, the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Jagakarsa Police Station for further investigation.
