The investigation into the murder and mutilation of Kunaefi (51) in the Pancoran Mas area of Depok City has uncovered new facts. Police stated that the suspect, Saepul (26), is believed to be a homosexual.

Katimsus 2 of the Sub-directorate of Violent Crimes (Resmob) at Polda Metro Jaya, Ipda Breggy Yesaya Imanuel Sutijono, explained that the relationship between the suspect and the victim is so far known to be limited to mere acquaintance. Police are still investigating the primary motive behind the heinous act.

“The relationship between the perpetrator and the victim is only that of acquaintances, nothing more. The motive for the murder is still being investigated, but a fact has emerged that the perpetrator is believed to be a homosexual,” said Breggy in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/8).

The victim’s body was found in a sack at an illegal waste disposal site. Residents had actually seen the sack since 24 July 2026, but only realised its contents were human body parts on Tuesday (4/8) when a resident burned a pile of rubbish at the location.

“When it was burned, the sack melted. Human body parts then became visible, so residents immediately reported it to the Bhabinkamtibmas (community police officer),” Breggy continued.

The Resmob Sub-directorate team, led by AKBP Ressa Fiviardy Marasabessy, then matched the body parts found with a missing person report for Kunaefi, which had been filed since 25 July 2026. The investigation led to Saepul as the last person seen with the victim.

Police moved quickly and managed to arrest Saepul in Kampung Sinar Laut, Panimbang area, Pandeglang Regency, Banten. In addition to arresting the perpetrator, officers seized evidence including the victim’s mobile phone and cash from the sale of a motorcycle and mobile phone that the perpetrator had taken.

Currently, the suspect and the evidence have been secured for further legal proceedings at Polda Metro Jaya.
