Police Reveal Motive Behind Padel Court Employee Confinement in Kebayoran Lama

South Jakarta Metro Police have provided an update on the alleged confinement and assault of a new employee with the initials AL at a padel court in the Kebayoran Lama area. The police have confirmed that the criminal act was not based on prior planning. The head of the South Jakarta Metro Police Resmob Unit, Iptu Satrio, explained that the four perpetrators involved initially only intended to question the victim. AL was suspected of being involved in the theft of ten padel rackets at the workplace. “Oh no, initially it was not planned. They just wanted to interrogate him. Then, because the process was perhaps a bit convoluted, they ended up detaining him for too long,” said Iptu Satrio while leading the crime scene investigation on Monday (6/7). According to statements from the padel court management, the interrogation became protracted because the victim was considered not to have provided clear information regarding the alleged racket theft on Sunday (21/6). This situation prompted the perpetrators to detain the victim in a warehouse and a goods lift. The confinement ultimately lasted for three days, starting from Monday (22/6). The victim was only released afterwards and immediately reported the incident to the authorities. The police then moved quickly and secured the four perpetrators on Wednesday (24/6). The four perpetrators, who have been named as suspects, have the initials ASB, RRK, AH, and DW. All four are known to be colleagues of the victim at the padel court. The police have confirmed that the acts of violence and confinement were the personal initiative of the perpetrators, not an instruction from the company’s management. “We have not received any orders, we have not found any orders from superiors. It was just the four employees,” Satrio asserted. During the crime scene investigation conducted on Monday at 14.00 WIB, the Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) team deployed five personnel to collect additional evidence at the location of the assault. The case of the padel employee’s confinement came to light after the victim’s mother, with the initial M, filed a police report. M reported that her son, AL, who had only been working for two months, did not return home for two days. AL was only able to communicate and ask to be picked up after being confined and assaulted by his colleagues over the racket theft accusation.
