Police Reveal MAN 3 Padang Student Brought Four Homemade Bombs, One Detonated
Police have revealed that a student at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 in Padang, West Sumatra, brought four homemade bombs to the school, of which only one detonated with low explosive force. Kabid Humas of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Susmelawati Rosya, stated that based on coordination with the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), officers discovered one bomb that had already exploded and three others that had not been detonated. Police have examined seven witnesses, including several teachers, a school security officer, the perpetrator, and other individuals with knowledge of the incident. In addition to deepening the investigation, the police are currently focusing on psychological recovery. The student, identified as R, is suspected of experiencing severe mental distress due to alleged bullying. Authorities are prioritising rehabilitation and providing support for the child, noting that while he is the perpetrator, he is also in shock and a victim of psychological pressure. Police are coordinating with the local government and related agencies to ensure the child’s future remains a concern while the legal process continues at the Padang Police Department.
