Police Reveal Condition of KontraS Activist Following Corrosive Liquid Attack
Jakarta – Police have revealed the latest condition of Andrie Yunus (27), Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), following his attack by an unknown assailant involving corrosive liquid.
As a result of the attack, Andrie sustained burn injuries to several parts of his body and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the victim’s injuries affected several important body parts.
“The wounds sustained by the victim are on several body parts, including the chest, face, and hands,” said Johnny on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Meanwhile, police are conducting an investigation into the case. The case handling process began through Police Report Form A Number 222/III/2026/Satreskrim/Restro Jakarta Pusat/Polda Metro Jaya.
According to Johnny, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has given special attention to the investigation and resolution of the case affecting the KontraS activist.
“The Police Chief, as the head of the National Police, has given special attention to the handling and investigation of this case,” he stated.
The case is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The investigation receives support from the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate.
Johnny emphasised that the investigation is being conducted using a scientific approach to clearly identify the perpetrator and the motive behind the incident.
“The National Police is ensuring that the investigation and prosecution, as part of law enforcement, are conducted on a scientific basis,” he said.
To date, police have processed the crime scene at the incident location and collected statements from several witnesses in the area.
“Questioning of witnesses is ongoing. Regarding the victim-witness, the National Police leadership and the Police express their condolences and pray that the victim, Andrie Yunus, will receive proper treatment, make a full recovery, and be able to provide further statements,” he added.
