Police state that one of the suspects in the alleged child abuse case at the Little Aresha Jogja daycare, initialled DK (51), is the owner of the foundation overseeing the facility. In previous police reports, DK or Diyah Kusumastuti was listed as the foundation’s chairman. Her role was crucial; DK directly ordered caregivers verbally to perpetrate violence against the children. “Yes, the foundation chairman is also the foundation owner,” explained Ipda Apri Sawitri, the Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) at the Yogyakarta Police Resort Criminal Investigation Unit, when contacted by detikJogja on Sunday (3/5/2026). The investigation into this case is ongoing. However, according to Apri, no former employees or children previously cared for at Little Aresha have been examined yet. “None yet (former employees or children previously cared for at Little Aresha have been examined). We’re still delving deeper. We’re focusing first on the current students,” she stated. Nevertheless, Apri emphasised that her side continues to open and accept all complaints related to this case. “Yes, that’s right, we accept all complaints,” she concluded. Previously, police are now considering designating suspects or victims from former employees or children who once attended the Little Aresha Jogja daycare. It is known that police have designated 13 suspects, consisting of the foundation chairman, school principal, and caregivers secured during last week’s raid. They have also designated 53 child victims under the daycare’s care this academic year. The Head of Criminal Investigation at Yogyakarta Police Resort, Kompol Riski Adrian, explained that from the testimony of suspect DK as foundation chairman, it was learned that the Little Aresha daycare was established in 2021, but its founding deed only exists from 2022. “We’re tracing from when they started doing that (the abuse), because there’s a suspect named SR, who has been working there for a year and a half,” Adrian said when met in the Malioboro area on Friday (1/5). “We asked, when did this practice start? (Answered) ‘Before I was there’, meaning even before her, who has been there for a year and a half, they were already doing it,” he continued. On that basis, Adrian said his side is open to the possibility of new suspects from former employees. This is because, from the list of caregivers displayed at the daycare, most of them are no longer working at Little Aresha. “Now we’re tracing who the caregivers were before, because from the structure we have, those who might have dispersed, most of them are no longer there,” Adrian explained. “Some might have come and gone. That’s why we’re tracing the former employees to find out since when these patterns occurred,” he added.
