Police Reveal CCTV Footage of Andrie Yunus Attack: Planned and Systematic!
The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Metro Jaya Police has revealed the latest developments in the suspected acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Based on CCTV footage analysis, police have mapped the perpetrators’ movements from leaving the YLBHI office to the attack location.
“On 12 March 2026, there was a suspected acid splashing incident against Andrie Yunus, who is still undergoing treatment. We hope he recovers soon,” said Dirreskrimum of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference in Jakarta, quoted from Breaking News Metro TV on Wednesday (18/3).
Iman explained that the investigation began with footage of the victim’s activities around 7:00 PM WIB. CCTV showed the victim being followed by unidentified persons (OTK) since leaving the YLBHI office after an event.
“Since the victim left the YLBHI office, it was already monitored that parties were following him. This is clearly recorded in the CCTV we secured,” said Iman while showing the footage to the media.
Police identified a division of roles in the action, namely a monitoring team (surveillance) and executors. The perpetrators even continued tailing the victim to a petrol station when he refuelled.
“It appears there were parties monitoring the situation at YLBHI. After the victim exited, they gave a signal and began following. Two people on a motorbike are suspected to be the executors. They were also spotted when the victim stopped at the petrol station,” he emphasised.
The moments of the attack are also clearly recorded. The perpetrators on the motorbike splashed liquid towards the victim before fleeing. The two motorbikes involved then split up to cover their tracks.
“The victim is seen being splashed with the liquid. After that, the perpetrators fled in different directions. One motorbike even went against traffic on Jalan Diponegoro. We also suspect the liquid splashed onto the perpetrators’ bodies, so they were seen stopping to clean themselves with mineral water,” Iman explained.
Police are still hunting the perpetrators and delving into the involved network. Police have uncovered the identities of the acid splashing executors on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, initialled BHC and MAK, through original CCTV footage without AI manipulation. The TNI Military Police apprehended four TNI AL and AU personnel initialled NDP, SL, BHW, and ES in connection with the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
