Police Reveal Arrest Procedure of Interpol Fugitive in Land Certificate Bribery Case
Tangerang — The Indonesian National Police (Polri), through the National Central Bureau Interpol Indonesia, has disclosed the arrest procedure of Jimmy Lie, a fugitive in a corruption case involving bribery in the processing of land certificates under the Comprehensive Systematic Land Registration programme (PTSL) in Tangerang Regency, Banten.
Brigadier General Untung Widyamoko, Secretary of the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia, stated in Tangerang on Monday that Jimmy Lie was placed on Interpol’s red notice list on 22 September 2025 and had previously fled abroad in 2022.
“Jimmy Lie is a fugitive who has been sought since 2022 and whom we have successfully repatriated to answer for the corruption offences he has committed,” Untung said.
He stated that the arrest of the Interpol fugitive was carried out at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, following detection by Malaysian Royal Police officers and Malaysian Immigration authorities at Putrajaya who were monitoring his entry into Indonesia.
“The repatriation via Interpol Red Notice in the name of Jimmy Lie represents the result of collaboration and cooperation between the International Relations Division, Tangerang City Police Resort, and the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang,” he said.
Untung noted that although Lie had been captured and brought from Malaysia, he could not be immediately detained as the owner of PT Baja Marga Kharisma Utama was currently unwell.
“Jimmy Lie is experiencing health problems; therefore, treatment efforts are being undertaken to maintain his condition. Tomorrow, God willing, we will hand him directly to the Prosecutor’s Office for the next phase,” he said.
The corruption case against Jimmy Lie involves bribery for the processing of certificates for 61 plots of land in 2022. Through his broker Hasbulah, Lie allegedly paid 960 million rupiah to the former Village Head of Kalibaru, Pakuhaji, Tangerang Regency (Sueb), Iman Nugraha (serving as PTSL Legal Task Force of the National Land Agency in Tangerang Regency), and Raden Febie (an honorary employee of the National Land Agency in Tangerang Regency) to ensure his 61 plots of land received quotas under the Comprehensive Systematic Land Registration programme from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning in 2022.
Currently, Sueb, Iman Nugraha, Raden Febie, and Hasbulah have all been convicted and found to have violated Article 18 of the Corruption Offences Law by the Tangerang District Court in September 2025. The perpetrators are currently serving their respective sentences: Hasbulah was sentenced to two years and nine months’ imprisonment, Sueb to one year and nine months, Iman Nugraha to one year and nine months, and Raden Febie Firmansyah to one year and nine months.
Jimmy Lie has not yet stood trial as he fled abroad before proceedings could commence.
