Police have located the driver involved in a viral zig-zagging sequence on the Becakayu Toll Road in East Jakarta. The driver is said to have expressed an apology. ‘For the drivers who zig-zagged on the Becakayu Toll Road, East Jakarta, we have met with them. They were given only oral warnings and educational advisories to refrain from repeating the act,’ said Kasatlantas Patroli Jalan Raya (PJR) Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, as quoted by Antara on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The police have identified the drivers. Reiki said the drivers have been admonished. ‘For the drivers who zig-zagged on the Becakayu Toll Road, we issued a verbal reprimand. The parties have also issued statements of apology for driving recklessly,’ he said. The drivers were not fined. ‘We issued verbal admonitions while delivering educational guidance,’ he added. Earlier, in an amateur video widely circulated on social media, five cars were seen travelling together in a convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road on the night of Wednesday, 4 March. The vehicles appeared to shift lanes in a zig-zag pattern from one lane to another, even moving from lane one to lane three in turn. The dangerous manoeuvre made the toll road appear blocked by the convoy. Although traffic on the toll road appeared relatively quiet, the zig-zag action was still deemed dangerous. Such driving behaviour could lead to accidents, especially if other vehicles are travelling at high speeds. The act also drew condemnation from the public who were unsettled by disorderly driving on the toll road.
