Police Report Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Garut Mudik Route
Garut — The Garut Police Resort reported that two people sustained minor injuries and received immediate medical attention following a multi-vehicle collision on the national mudik route in Kersamanah, Garut District, West Java, on Sunday (15 March) evening.
“As a result of the incident, two people were injured and three vehicles were damaged,” said Ipda Marlina, Head of Law Enforcement Unit at the Garut Police Traffic Unit, in Garut on Monday.
She explained that the collision occurred on the national route, specifically on Bandrek-Lewo Road, Kubang Village, Nanjung Village, Kersamanah District, on Sunday at approximately 21:00 WIB, involving a truck, a bus and a minibus.
Following the incident, two people — truck driver Eki (23) and truck passenger Ajid (22), both residents of Garut — sustained minor injuries. The case has since been resolved through family settlement.
“The victims were taken to an alternative treatment facility, and each party agreed to repair their own vehicle damage independently, choosing not to involve police handling,” she said.
She disclosed that the incident began when a truck bearing registration number Z 9402 DA travelling from Bandrek towards Lewo veered to the right whilst navigating a curved road section, colliding with a Toyota Calya minibus with registration number B 1332 UIK coming from the opposite direction.
The truck subsequently collided with a tour bus bearing registration number AE 7645 UQ, eventually coming to a stop and disrupting traffic flow on the route.
“The Mitsubishi truck with registration number Z 9402 DA, whilst navigating the curved road section, swerved to the right, with the driver lacking concentration and care,” she stated.
Following identity verification of the drivers involved in the incident, it was discovered that neither the truck driver nor the minibus driver possessed a valid driving licence (SIM), carrying only identity cards (KTP) and vehicle documents such as vehicle registration certificates (STNK).
