The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumbar), along with related agencies, has reminded Eid returnees about the implementation of the alternating road access system in the Lembah Anai area, Tanah Datar Regency, starting 1 April 2026 or after the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday.

“Starting 1 April 2026, we will reinstate the alternating access system for the Lembah Anai area as before the Lebaran holiday,” said the Head of the Traffic Unit of the Padang Panjang Police Resort, AKP Pifzen Finot, in Padang Panjang City on Friday.

Finot stated that the alternating access system will begin on 1 April 2026 from 08:00 WIB to 17:00 WIB daily, specifically for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

“After that, vehicles from Padang City heading to Bukittinggi or vice versa can pass through the Lembah Anai area,” he said.

He explained that the implementation of the alternating access system follows coordination by local police with the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Centre (BPJN) and Hutama Karya, the entity handling the Lembah Anai road repairs.

Therefore, they urge Eid returnees wishing to pass through the Lembah Anai area for their return mobility to take advantage of the period before the alternating access system is applied.

He emphasised that there are no special policies for Eid returnees passing through the Lembah Anai area after 1 April 2026. All road users must comply with the alternating access system from 08:00 WIB to 17:00 WIB.

Hutama Karya, along with BPJN Sumbar and Ditlantas Polda Sumbar, has fully opened the Lembah Anai road from H-10 to H+10 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. In addition, related agencies have also implemented traffic engineering from Padang City towards Bukittinggi City to alleviate build-ups or congestion.

Meanwhile, Mamed (32), one of the road users from Bukittinggi City to Padang City, said he chose to depart early when passing through the Lembah Anai area to anticipate congestion.

“I departed at 06:00 WIB so as not to get stuck in traffic at Lembah Anai or in Padang Panjang City,” said the father of one child.
