Police Release Photograph of Suspected Killer of Elementary School Teacher in Depok After Three Months Evading Arrest
Police have released a photograph of the suspected killer of Depok elementary school teacher Arifianti (41), whose body was discovered in Gunungputri, Bogor Regency, West Java. The suspected perpetrator is a man named Muhammad Syamsun Al Ghozi (27).
According to detikcom on Monday 16 March 2026, Gunungputri Police Station released a photograph of Muhammad Syamsun Al Ghozi as a wanted person notice (DPO). The suspected perpetrator was born in Kebumen, Central Java on 16 February 1999.
Syamsun Al Ghozi was last known to reside at Jalan Cemara I Number 70 RT 01 RW 10, Baktijaya Village, Sukmajaya District, Depok City, West Java.
“Yes, it is a wanted notice for a murder case. The victim is a woman named Arifianti. Yes, she was a teacher,” said Gunungputri Police Chief Kompol Aulia Robby when asked for confirmation on Monday 16 March 2026.
Muhammad Syamsun Al Ghozi was designated as a wanted person with DPO number DPO/10 II/RES.1.7./2026/Reskrim. He is suspected of committing the criminal offence of murder and/or assault resulting in someone’s death, in accordance with Article 459 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and/or Article 466 Section 3 of the Criminal Code.
“Suspected of committing the criminal offence of murder and/or assault resulting in someone’s death, Article 459 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 466 Section 3 of the Criminal Code,” Gunungputri Police Station stated via their official Instagram account, @polsek_gunungputri.
The police chief stated that members of the public who know the whereabouts of the fugitive can provide information to the investigators at Gunungputri Police Station, Bogor Police District, at telephone number 021-8671405 or WhatsApp 0813-1464-9848 or the National Police call centre 110.
Suspected Perpetrator Was Close Friend of Victim
Syamsun is suspected of killing the woman whose body was discovered on the roadside in Gunungputri, Bogor Regency on 6 December 2025. The victim, named Arifianti, was a teacher in Depok, West Java.
Police suspect the perpetrator was a close friend of the victim. The victim is believed to have been murdered after numerous lacerations were discovered on her body.
“The perpetrator has not been apprehended. The perpetrator was a close friend of the victim, possibly her boyfriend,” said Gunungputri Police Chief Kompol Aulia Robby on Tuesday 27 January.
The victim was discovered lying on the roadside with her hands bound and wearing a blue raincoat. Arifianti is believed to be a murder victim and witnesses reported seeing her being transported by a man on a motorcycle.
“Our suspicion points to murder. However, we are still developing the case. There were injuries. There are injuries. For now, we are looking at the injuries,” said Aulia Robby when contacted by detikcom on Sunday 7 December.
