Police Reject Restorative Justice in Bogor Boy's Fatal Dog Attack Case

Bogor Police have stated that the criminal case involving a 9-year-old boy who died after being attacked by a boar-hunting dog in Jasinga, Bogor, will continue, despite the victim’s father having forgiven the perpetrator and requesting the case be dropped.

AKP Silfi Adi Putri, Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at Bogor Police, confirmed that the father, Solehudin, had submitted a request for restorative justice and a withdrawal of the police report. However, she explained that the request could not be accommodated due to legal constraints.

“Regarding the withdrawal of the police report by the victim’s father, we confirm that the request for restorative justice was made. However, based on Article 82 of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code, the mechanism of restorative justice is excluded for criminal acts against a person’s life, where in this case the victim died,” Silfi said on Sunday.

She added that the suspect, identified by the initial Y, remains in detention at the Bogor Police headquarters while investigators complete the case file for submission to the prosecutors.

Previously, the victim’s father, Solehudin, publicly stated he had forgiven the dog owner and had submitted a letter to the police requesting the case be dropped to allow the matter to be resolved quickly. The fatal attack occurred while the boy was fishing with friends.
