Police Reform Commission Proposes Revisions to 8 Polri Regulations and 24 Chief of Police Regulations, Hopes for Completion by 2029
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri recommends amending eight Peraturan Polri (Perpol) and 24 Peraturan Kapolri (Perkap).
These recommendations form part of the findings from the Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri’s study, which was submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.
“This includes the agenda for internal reforms that must amend approximately—we have calculated—eight Perpol, Polri regulations, and 24 Perkap, Kapolri regulations, which are hoped to be completed by 2029,” stated Jimly Asshiddiqie, Chairman of the Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri, during a press conference at the Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
In addition, the Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri proposes revisions to Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Polri.
“So we propose that revisions to the Law on the Polri be formed, which will then be followed up with government regulations or presidential regulations,” said Jimly.
“There are 10 thick books, eight of which are verbatim voices from the public and Polri’s own plans, and the two are summaries,” said Mahfud at the Palace.
On the same occasion, another member of the Komisi Reformasi Polri, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that all team members were invited to the Palace to report the final results of their work.
“There is a 3,000-page report, a 300-page one, and one that is only 3 pages. So it can be read by the President in a concise manner, allowing him to understand well the proposals submitted by the Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri to the President,” explained Yusril.
