Police reenact murder of Asaba president director

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Jakarta Police reenacted on Sunday the fatal shooting that killed computer firm PT Asaba's president director Boedyharto Angsono and his Army's Special Forces (Kopassus) bodyguard, First Sgt. Edy Siyep, in North Jakarta.

The alleged mastermind, Gunawan Santoso; four suspected hitmen -- Suud Rusli, Siam A.S., Fidel H. and Santoso Subianto; and Boedyharto's driver Darjan reenacted the crime starting at around 10 a.m. at the Sasana Krida sports stadium in Sunter.

The four suspected hitmen were Marines, and all have been discharged from the Marine Corps after admitting their role in the July 19 killing to Navy military police.

Penjaringan Police deputy chief Adj. Comr. Suwanto said that all the suspects were present at the crime scene, including Suud, the alleged assassin.

Edy was shot once in the head while Boedyharto was shot six times in the head and back. Boedyharto's driver survived the apparent contract killing as he remained inside Boedyharto's bullet-proof Mercedes Benz car.

Police have linked the killing to a family feud between Gunawan and the victim.

Gunawan, a former son-in-law of Boedyharto, was sentenced to two years and seven months in jail after being found guilty in a Rp 25 billion (US$3.05 million) embezzlement case while he was working in Boedyharto's company. He was detained in Kuningan penitentiary, West Java, before escaping early this year.

He has also been implicated in the attempted murder of PT Asaba finance director Paulus Tejakusuma on June 6. Paulus survived but suffered severe gunshot wounds.

Penjaringan police deployed dozens of its officers to guard the reconstruction scene. A number of military personnel and Marines were also seen at the location.

The police also reenacted the planning of Boedyharto murder at the rented house of Gunawan on Jl. Kartini II, Central Jakarta.
