Police have secured a stolen pickup truck in Ciawi, Bogor, West Java, and returned it to its owner.

“One pickup truck unit that was previously reported missing due to theft has been successfully recovered and returned to its owner,” said Ciawi Police Chief AKP Dede Lesmana Jaya on Monday (9 March 2026).

He stated that the theft occurred on Thursday (5 March). The victim subsequently reported the incident to police.

“During the investigation, officers traced vehicle sales information on social media and discovered a pickup being sold without documentation,” he explained.

Police then located the vehicle matching the victim’s report. Officers proceeded to conduct an undercover operation.

“Officers then conducted an undercover operation together with the victim, posing as prospective buyers,” he said.

Police performed verification checks on the victim’s vehicle. Upon inspection, the pickup truck matched the one reported stolen.

“However, the suspected perpetrator managed to flee when about to be apprehended,” he stated.

The vehicle was subsequently returned to the victim. Meanwhile, police continue pursuit of the suspect.

“The suspect has been designated as a DPO (Daftar Pencarian Orang — person on the wanted list) and remains under police pursuit,” he added.
