Police Record 208,825 Vehicles Leaving Jakarta on 19-20 March 2026
JAKARTA - Police recorded 208,825 vehicles leaving Jakarta through four main toll gates on Thursday (19/3/2026) at 6:00 PM WIB until Friday (20/3/2026) at 6:00 AM WIB, during the 2026 Eid homecoming traffic flow.
“The number of vehicles exiting Jakarta through the four main toll gates reached 208,825 vehicles, an increase of 48.15 percent compared to normal conditions and up 4.05 percent from the previous year’s Eid period,” said the Spokesperson for the 2026 Operation Ketupat Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Pol Marupa Sagala, in his statement on Friday.
Marupa said the highest surge in vehicle volume occurred at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate towards Trans Java.
Nevertheless, he assured that the general traffic conditions could be managed by officers.
“Inbound traffic to Jakarta was recorded at 77,584 vehicles, experiencing a decrease of 42.22 percent compared to normal conditions. Density was temporarily observed on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, but still under control,” he revealed.
Overall, Marupa stated that the security and public order situation (kamtibmas) during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 remained conducive without any prominent incidents.
However, police recorded 90 traffic accidents during the Thursday to Friday period.
From that number, one person died, 40 suffered serious injuries, and 138 had minor injuries.
The total material losses due to accidents amounted to Rp 581,350,000.
In addition to land routes, increased mobility also occurred in the public transportation sector.
Specifically for the Java-Sumatra crossing, there were 43 ship voyages with 123,540 passengers.
Meanwhile, the railway mode recorded 1,504 trips with 616,287 passengers.
The aviation sector recorded 1,879 flights with a total of 184,180 passengers.
In terms of law enforcement, police recorded 22 traffic violations, all handled through the electronic ticketing system or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE).
Police advised the public undertaking homecoming trips to prioritise safety, ensure vehicles are in prime condition, and avoid forcing themselves when tired.
“Police, together with all stakeholders, will continue to strive to provide the best service to the public during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026, so that the homecoming can proceed safely and smoothly,” Marupa concluded.
