JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian Police (Polri) recorded 172 reports of public security and order (kamtibmas) disturbances during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 on the period from Tuesday (17/3/2026) at 18.00 WIB until Wednesday (18/3/2026) at 06.00 WIB. “The data on kamtibmas disturbances recorded 172 reports, detailed as follows: 155 crime cases, 10 violation cases, one disaster incident, and six other disturbances,” said the Spokesperson of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2026, Senior Commissioner Marupa Sagala, in a video statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Additionally, Polri also recorded 173 traffic accidents during the same period. On the other hand, the flow of vehicles leaving Jakarta showed a significant increase. “The volume of outbound traffic from Jakarta through the four main toll gates was recorded at 142,000 vehicles, an increase of around 45 percent compared to normal conditions,” he explained. Furthermore, Marupa revealed that the National Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas Polri) has implemented traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system (one way) gradually since Tuesday (17/3/2026) at 15.00 WIB on the Trans-Java Toll Road section, from KM 70 Cikampek Toll to KM 273 Pejagan-Pemalang Toll. He further disclosed the monitored congestion conditions at Gilimanuk Port, Bali. “Based on field reports on Wednesday morning at 09.30 WITA, the queue of vehicles heading to Java reached about 11 kilometres from Denpasar direction to in front of SD 5 Melaya. Meanwhile, from the Singaraja direction, the queue was recorded at around 100 metres from Tugu Cekik,” he stated. The congestion was dominated by private vehicles. To alleviate the queues, officers took several measures such as accelerating priority vehicles, bagging vehicles at Gilimanuk Cargo Terminal and Cekik Weighbridge, as well as optimising the buffer zone with a canalisation system. A total of 33 ships operated until 07.00 WITA, and starting at 08.00 WITA, 23 ships implemented the Arrive-Unload-Depart (TBB) pattern to speed up the crossing process. Polri advised the public to prioritise safety during their journeys home.
