Police receive report from 'Mau Print' owner over alleged theft

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Metro Police have received a report from the owner of the ‘Mau Print’ printing shop regarding an alleged theft of iron plates worth Rp230 million, reportedly involving three employees.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Saputra, confirmed on Wednesday that an official report had been filed by the shop’s management or owner.

“Yes, that’s correct, (the report is) regarding theft,” Roby said.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, explained that the police report was officially registered by the complainant on Tuesday (30/6).

Erlyn revealed that, based on confirmation from the Central Jakarta Police’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit, the object reported missing is an iron plate, with estimated losses reaching hundreds of millions of rupiah. The case was also previously presented in a police press release.

“That’s correct, the report was made on 30 June 2026. The report concerns the theft of an iron plate worth Rp230 million, which was presented in the release yesterday,” Erlyn said.

“The statement is from the owner of ‘Mau Print’. This means the reported parties are three of his employees,” Erlyn added.

Currently, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police is conducting further investigation and inquiry into the alleged theft report to verify the statements from both the complainant and the reported parties.

The Central Jakarta Metro Police revealed that the motive behind a case of unlawful confinement and assault against three printing shop employees in Central Jakarta was triggered by accusations of stealing iron printing plates worth Rp230 million.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, explained that the printing business owner, along with several other perpetrators, claimed that the victims had to take responsibility for the loss of the company’s assets.

“Their pretext was that the three printing shop employees were the ones who lost or allegedly stole the iron plates used as a base for screen printing. According to the perpetrators’ calculations, the goods were worth around Rp230 million,” Reynold said.
