Police Receive Award from Hajj Ministry for Securing 2026 Pilgrimage
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has received an award from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for its contribution to the successful implementation of the 1447 Hijriah Hajj pilgrimage. The award was presented as a token of appreciation for the active role of the Bhayangkara Corps in securing and protecting pilgrims.
The award was handed over directly by Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, known as Gus Irfan, to the Director of Specific Crimes (Dirtipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Polri, Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, who represented the institution. The presentation ceremony took place during the National Evaluation Working Meeting at the East Jakarta Hajj Dormitory on Saturday (4/7).
Polri was deemed to have played a crucial role in strengthening cross-agency synergy, maintaining order, and conducting law enforcement to ensure all stages of the Hajj proceeded smoothly. Gus Irfan expressed his gratitude to all parties involved, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Polri.
“I would like to thank all participants who have worked hard, dedicating their time, energy, and thoughts to the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage. Thanks to the cooperation of all ranks, we have received much appreciation for this year’s Hajj services,” said Gus Irfan in a statement on Monday (6/7/2026).
He added that the success of this year’s Hajj was the fruit of solid collaboration between institutions. This synergy is considered the main foundation for delivering professional and responsive Hajj services to pilgrims.
During the 1447/2026 Hajj season, Polri was actively involved from securing the departure and return of pilgrims to establishing a Task Force for the Prevention and Enforcement of Illegal Hajj. This task force, comprising Polri, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, is tasked with eradicating illegal Hajj practices that harm the public.
Separately, the Head of the Public Relations Division of Polri, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, expressed his gratitude for the award. He stated that this appreciation serves as a mandate for Polri to continue improving its services.
“We thank the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia for the award given to Polri through the Dirtipidter Bareskrim Polri,” said Isir.
“This award is an honour as well as a sign of trust in the synergy that has been well established during the Hajj pilgrimage. We view this award not only as an institutional achievement but also as a mandate to continuously improve the quality of our service to the public,” he continued.
Isir affirmed that Polri is committed to strengthening coordination with various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support future government policies related to Hajj.
“Polri is committed to providing a sense of security through optimal security measures, protection for pilgrims, strengthening cross-sector coordination, and professional, proportional, and fair law enforcement,” Isir stressed.
