Police Ready to Secure Public Aspiration Rallies, Urge Peace and Order

The Indonesian National Police has urged members of the public planning to express their aspirations in public to maintain order. The police stated they will provide security services to ensure that public expression activities proceed safely and conducively.

“The Police are ready to provide services to the public who wish to express their aspirations,” said Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Edison Isir, in a statement on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

Isir explained that freedom of expression is a right of every citizen guaranteed by Law Number 9 of 1998. However, in its implementation, the public is asked to continue respecting the rights of others and to comply with applicable legal regulations in order to maintain public security.

“We respect the right of every citizen to express opinions in public. We hope the entire series of activities can take place peacefully, orderly and conducively,” said Isir.

According to Isir, public expression of opinion is a vital part of democratic life in Indonesia. Therefore, he hopes that such aspirations will be conveyed with dignity without disregarding the comfort of other members of the public who are carrying on with their activities.

“We invite all rally participants to jointly maintain a peaceful and orderly atmosphere. Convey aspirations in a proper manner while continuing to respect the rights and freedoms of others to carry out their activities safely and comfortably, together maintaining public order and security,” Isir appealed.

In addition, he cautioned the public to remain vigilant and not to be easily provoked. The public is asked to filter circulating information and not to swallow unverified invitations wholesale.

“Freedom of expression must go hand in hand with responsibility. Let us keep the democratic space healthy so that every aspiration can be conveyed in an orderly, peaceful and responsible manner,” said Isir.

Isir expressed hope for public cooperation in keeping the security and public order situation under control. He stressed the importance of collective awareness so that democracy continues to function without harming public rights.

“Let us together maintain comfort and order. Convey aspirations peacefully, orderly and with dignity,” Isir concluded.
