Following a search of the PT Wijaya Karya Tbk. (WIKA) office in East Jakarta, investigators from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) have taken away a number of pieces of evidence. The search is related to an alleged corruption case involving the construction project of the Asembagoes Sugar Factory in Situbondo. The evidence seized includes not only physical documents but also electronic data, which will now be the focus of investigators’ efforts to unravel alleged irregularities in the project worth hundreds of billions of rupiah. The head of the Kortastipidkor investigation team, Senior Commissioner Gunawan, stated that the search was conducted to develop the investigation into the case. ‘We are carrying out a search today in connection with the investigation process being conducted by Kortastipidkor Police investigators,’ he told reporters on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. During the search, investigators scoured several rooms across multiple floors deemed relevant to the project under investigation. ‘Of course, on those floors there are many rooms that we accessed, which we considered or suspected contained evidence relevant to the investigation process we are undertaking,’ he said. Following the search, which lasted since the morning, investigators secured documents in various forms. Digital data stored in the company’s communication systems was also seized. ‘The evidence includes documents in both softcopy and hardcopy formats. There are emails as well,’ he stated. According to Gunawan, all the seized evidence will be further analysed to strengthen the case and reveal the parties responsible for the project. ‘Later, this evidence will be analysed and we will also examine it further to strengthen the proof in the investigation process we are conducting,’ he said. It was previously reported that two people have been named as suspects in the alleged corruption case at PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI. The case concerns the integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) project for the development and modernisation of the Djatiroto Sugar Factory PTPN XI in 2016.
