Police Raid State Official's Home in Expanding Corruption Probe

A joint investigation by the Indonesian National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police into several alleged corruption cases is expanding. In addition to searching a cafe and a money changer in the Cipete area of South Jakarta, investigators also targeted eight other locations. One of these was the residence of a state official.

The Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the search at the state official’s residence. However, he has not yet disclosed the official’s identity or their connection to the case under investigation.

“Yes, we will convey information regarding the state official later, but everyone is equal in the eyes of the law,” Budi told reporters at the search location on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.

According to Budi, the searches were carried out simultaneously at eight locations spread across South Jakarta, the Kuningan and Sudirman areas, and Bogor.

During the search at Cafe de’CLAN Signature, investigators previously found a safe containing stacks of cash in US and Singapore dollars. The total amount of money is still being counted. “After the search process was carried out, the money counting process is still ongoing; we will update you all,” he said.

In addition to the cash, investigators also secured a number of documents from the location. Budi stated that documents were also found at several other locations that were searched. “Likewise, at several other crime scenes, some documents were found. We are continuing to gather information and there are developments from several of the points that were searched earlier,” he said.

It was previously reported that joint personnel from the Police’s Kortastipidkor and the Metro Jaya Regional Police searched a cafe and a money changer in the Cipete, Cilandak area of South Jakarta on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. The search was conducted as part of a joint investigation related to three cases of alleged corruption and money laundering. A number of heavily armed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel were seen guarding the area during the process. Observations at the scene showed investigators entering Cafe de’CLAN Signature and Koin Money Changer to search for and secure evidence needed for the investigation.
