Police Raid LPG Tampering Den in Bogor, Cileungsi Chief Disguised as Security Guard

A shop house used for an LPG tampering operation in Cileungsi Kidul Village, Cileungsi District, Bogor, West Java, was raided by police. Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison disguised himself as a security guard before and during the raid.

“The raid was carried out after direct monitoring by disguising myself as a security officer to observe suspicious activity at the location,” Edison said on Saturday (25/7/2026).

Edison explained the disguise was necessary because the perpetrators had installed surveillance cameras around the site to monitor the situation, making the subterfuge crucial to deceive them.

“The disguise was forced because the perpetrators installed CCTV cameras at the front of the shop house to monitor the situation around the location,” he said. “This step was taken so that the presence of officers would not be suspected before the raid was executed,” he added.

During the raid, police discovered a ladder and a ‘back route’ at the location. The route was allegedly prepared as an escape path in the event of a raid.

“A ladder at the rear of the building was allegedly prepared as an escape route should a raid occur at any time,” he revealed.

Two perpetrators were arrested. A total of 1,304 canisters were seized in the raid.

“In the raid, police managed to secure two perpetrators with the initials MS and RET, who acted as doctors or gas injectors,” Edison said.

The raid was conducted on Thursday (23/7). Edison explained that the two perpetrators transferred the contents of subsidised 3kg LPG canisters into non-subsidised 12kg canisters to be sold for profit.

“Officers seized a total of 1,304 LPG canisters, 56 gas connecting irons, two refrigerators, one digital scale, one four-wheeled vehicle, as well as plastic caps with barcodes for 12kg LPG canisters and plastic caps for 3kg LPG canisters suspected of being used in the tampering practice,” he detailed.
